The same cutout can support a catalog image and a more expressive promotional post. Start with a clear message, then use the background, crop, and text to support it. The homepage food composition demonstrates these building blocks; it is an example, not a preset you must copy exactly.

Before you start

Decide where the image will appear and check the destination’s current dimensions. Use a square or portrait layout when appropriate. Keep the product prominent, and choose a short message that remains readable on a phone.

Step by step

  1. Remove the background from your product photo and save a transparent version for future use.
  2. Choose a solid color or a simple gradient in Background.
  3. Adjust the canvas ratio, Subject size, and position to leave space for your message.
  4. Open Design to add text, then adjust its color, size, and position. Keep the type away from the subject’s important details.
  5. Download the composition and preview it at phone size. Save alternative crops as separate files.

Check the result

Long text and small labels are hard to read in a feed. Check the contrast of the text against every part of the background behind it. Leave margins so platform cropping does not remove the message or a key part of the product.

Keep in mind

Keep the original cutout as well as the finished post. You can reuse the cutout in another tool or layout without repeating the removal, provided you saved it before Clearcut’s 60-minute file expiry.
